Shonit was South Australian president and on the national board of the Cornea and Contact Lens Society of Australia in 2012 and 2013, and has spoken at several conferences including Eye360, the International Cornea and Contact Lens Congress (ICCLC) and the Orthokeratology Society of Oceania (OSO), on the subject of scleral contact lenses, OrthoK and myopia management.

In 2021, Shonit was appointed as the Fellowship Chair of the International Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control (IAOMC) which means Shonit has the privilege of running the Fellowship program for the Oceania region.

In 2016, Shonit was invited to join Vision Camberwell and in 2020, became the principal owner charged with continuing the Vision Camberwell legacy.

Shonit is highly renown for fitting a wide range of custom designed contact lenses for keratoconus and post graft corneas, and is renowned for achieving results for clients with the most complicated eyes. Shonit is therapeutically accredited to treat conditions such as conjunctivitis, ocular inflammation, dry eye and glaucoma.

Highly devoted to patient care, his dedication has earned him an outstanding reputation not only for the results he achieves, but also for the compassion he shows for those in his care. As such, he receives regular referrals from other optometrists, health care professionals and patients.

Shonit’s mission for Vision Camberwell is to maintain its reputation as one of Australia’s leading practices for fitting contact lenses for keratoconus and the various conditions that are corrected with OrthoK.
